Laurent Gobillon, Geoffrey J.D. Hewings Award 2013

Laurent Gobillon has just been awarded the Geoffrey JD Hewings prize 2013 by the North American Regional NARSC-Science Council. Pr. Gobillon has been a researcher at INED since 2004, is a member of the Paris School of Economics and affiliated researcher at the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) and the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA).
Named in honor of Professor Geoffrey J.D. Hewings who over the years introduced numerous graduate students to Regional Science and mentored them as young scholars. The award recognizes distinguished contributions to Regional Science research by scholars who have recently completed doctoral studies
His research areas are economic geography, urban economics, health economics and labor economics. More specifically, two areas were highlighted as part of this price*: the first is the evaluation of agglomeration effects on the wages of workers, business productivity and land cost; the second is the quantification of local effects on the re-employment of the unemployed, particularly the study of spatial problems of access to employment.
