PPD at a glance

For bachelor students in economics, mathematics or social sciences 2-years research program in analytical and quantitative economic methods (direct entry in the second year possible)

The Public Policy and Development Master is a full-time program. It is not possible to do it in parallel with a second program during the same academic year or to do it as an “alternance”.

(2023-2024) Master 1: 31 students including 77,4 % of international students
(2023-2024) Master 2: 28 students including 53,6 % of international students

Campus: Paris School of Economics, Jourdan campus

Structure: M1 September – May + 2 months compulsory internship; M2 September – August (master thesis defense in June or September)

Language: English

Credits: M1 60 ECTS; M2 60 ECTS (no degree granted only after the M1)

Wide range of courses: More than 50 courses to choose from within five general fields : Environment, Economical History, Quantitative Methods, Social Policies, and Global Policies

International openness: from 50 to 80% of the PPD students come from a foreign institution and a third of the PPD graduate students move abroad (for further studies or work positions)

After the PPD master: possibility to continue with a PhD (at PSE or in top Universities in Europe or the US) or to enter the labour market positions in multilateral organizations, administrations, private sector)

Degree awarded upon completion: Degree in Applied Economics with a specialization in Public Policy and Development

Three Top French academic institutions deliver the PPD Master diploma : EHESS, PSL (Paris Sciences et Lettres) via École normale supérieure (ENS - PSL) and École des Ponts ParisTech. PPD Master is further supported by the Paris School of Economics, the Institut pour la recherche sur le développement (IRD) and the Centre pour la recherche économique et ses applications (CEPREMAP). It has strong links with J-PAL and the Institute for Public Policies (IPP).
