Professional Bio


I am an Economist in the Office of the Chief Economist of the World Bank's Middle East and North Africa Region. Prior to this appointment, I joined the World Bank as part of the Young Fellowship Program on Forced Displacement (a joint program with UK Aid and UNHCR). I was also a post-doctoral researcher at Paris School of Economics and the Institut Convergences Migrations for two years and at the University of Strasbourg for one year. I hold a Ph.D. in Economics and a Master's in Development Economics, both from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. 

My research interests include migration, development, labor economics, and political economy. My work has been published in Demography, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Population Economics, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of Comparative Economics, World Development, and Oxford University Press. My work received grants from the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the British Academy,  the Agence Nationale de la Recherche, the Agence Française de Développement, the Fondation pour les Etudes et Recherches sur le Développement International, and the Economic Research Forum.

I received the French National Qualification as Assistant Professor of Economics in 2020 and the Italian National Qualification as Assistant Professor of Political Economy (13/A1) in 2022.
