Context

The government’s 2019 Budget bill – and the Social Security Financing bill – has just been presented to parliament. Parliamentary discussion of the budget is important to every democracy and yet in France, it is not subject to independent analysis.

This year, the National Assembly has launched a process of soliciting scientific assessments of the government’s budgetary measures. Responding to this initiative, Cepremap (1) and IPP (2) will present research that can inform this democratic debate, bringing together macroeconomic analyses of the budget, and assessments of the impact of budget policies on households and on business. A round-table will follow the presentations, composed of representatives of the main groups in parliament.

Please note that this event is entirely in French.
