“After the collapse, the reshaping of trade”


Paris 25th-26th May.
The topic will be the reshaping of trade after the collapse observed at the end of 2008/at the beginning of 2009.
Focused on the question of the recovery of trade, the conference will be divided into three sessions:
1) Is the crisis of trade over?
2) Developed countries back to growth?
3) Reshuffling of trade in favour of emerging countries
Recent academic papers will be presented in these sessions and two lectures will be made:

  • Francois Bourguignon (PSE G-MonD): Can Africa benefit from the trade rebound?
  • Kevin O’Rourke (Trinity College): The 2008-2009 trade collapse in historical perspective
    A round table chaired by Marc Roscam Abbing (CPB) will conclude the conference.

    The conference will take place in PSE on the 1st day (Campus Jourdan, “Grande Salle”, 48 Boulevard Jourdan, 75014 PARIS) and in Banque de France on the 2nd day (48-50 Rue Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, 75002 PARIS). The conference is open by invitation only.
