“The Germany Illusion:Between Economic Euphoria and Despair”

JPEG - 6.8 kb

Oxford University Press, 2018

The book addresses three widely held illusions about Germany and its economy. Germany’s economy seems strong, yet it’s heavy reliance on its exports makes it vulnerable and hides an important underlying weakness about investment. Germany has also become Europe’s reluctant hegemon and is struggling to understand why European integration is crucial for Germany’s economic and social future.

Discussant: Patrick Artus - Chief Economist, Natixis
