Two new post-doctoral fellows join PSE in the framework of the Opening economics Chair

As part of the Opening economics Chair, the Paris School of Economics will be pleased to welcome Laura Silva and Akshath Jitendranath at the beginning of the 2023 academic year.

Laura Silva
Laura Silva, a PhD student in sociology at Science Po Paris and the CNRS, is finalizing her thesis entitled “Poor and (un)skilled? Neighbourhood deprivation and non-cognitive skills development”. She is also associated with CREST (Center for Research in Economics and Statistics).
Laura holds a Master’s degree in Management Studies from Ramon Llull University (Barcelona) and a Master’s degree in Management from the London School of Economics, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan).
Her current research focuses on wellbeing inequalities in the effect of Covid-19 and lockdown of people in different housing and neighbourhood conditions; and exploring the antecedents of racism by considering the role of neighborhood diversity and personality traits.

Akshath Jitendranath
Akshath Jitendranath is a PhD student in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he is also a junior lecturer in the PPE program at the university’s John Stuart Mill College.
Akshath also holds a research master’s degree in economics and philosophy from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Symbiosis School of Economics in Pune, India.
His research focuses on the theory of choice. In particular, from both an axiomatic and philosophical point of view, he addresses the notion of “difficult choice” which goes beyond the incomparability of the options considered.
