Akiko Suwa-Eisenmann est chercheuse à Paris School of Economics- Institut National de la Recherche pour l'Agriculture, l'Alimentation et l'Environnement (INRAE). Elle travaille en Commerce, Agriculture et Développement, sur l'impact de la libéralisation commerciale sur les pays en développement et sur les échanges agricoles. Elle étudie également la répartition des patrimoines en France au 19e et 20e siècles.Elle enseigne dans les masters APE et PPD de l'EHESS.

 Akiko Suwa-Eisenmann est co-directrice du master Politiques Publiques et Développement (EHESS-ENS PSL - ENPC) cohabilité par PSE. Depuis octobre 2021, elle siège au Comité directeur du Panel d'Experts de haut niveau (HLPE-FSN) auprès du Comité des Nations Unies sur la Sécurité Alimentaire (CFS) et en a été élue présidente en novembre 2023.

Entre 2010 et 2011,elle a été directrice adjointe de l'UMR Paris Jourdan Sciences Economiques. Elle a représenté l'INRA au comité de Pilotage de la Fondation Paris School of Economics de 2008 à 2011. Elle a représenté les chercheurs au Conseil d'Administration. Pour Paris School of Economics, elle a co-dirigé avec Marc Gurgand, le programme de Formation Continue à destination des enseignants des lycées. Elle a siégé au conseil scientifique du DIM Ile de France Sciences Economiques. Elle a dirigé le LEA, unité propre INRA sur le campus Jourdan, entre 2002 et 2009.

 Auparavant, elle a été administratrice sur projet au Centre de Développement de l'OCDE.  Elle a été consultante pour la Banque Mondiale, l'OCDE, la Commission Européenne, le Centre d’Analyse Stratégique, l'INSEE. Elle a enseigné à l'université Paris 1, l'Institut International d’Administration Publique et l'université de Rennes 1. Elle est normalienne, diplômée de Sciences Po et a fait sa thèse à l'EHESS.

Akiko Suwa-Eisenmann is a researcher at the Paris School of Economics and INRAE, the French Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment. She works on Trade, Agriculture and Development; on the impact of trade liberalization in developing countries. She also studies wealth distribution in France in the 19th and 20th centuries. She teaches in the APE and PPD masters at PSE.

Akiko Suwa-Eisenmann is the co-director of the Public Policy and Development master at PSE. Since October 2021, she sits at the Steering Committee of the High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE-FSN) for the UN Committee on Food Security (CFS) and was elected Chair of the Steering Committee in November 2023.

Previously, she has been deputy director of the Paris-Jourdan Sciences Economiques research team in 2010-2011 after being director of LEA, an INRA research unit in 2002-2019. She has been elected at the board of PSE and has sit at the Steering Committee of PSE (2008-2011). She has created and co-supervised with Marc Gurgand a PSE training program targeting high school teachers. She has been at the Scientific council of Ile de France fund for research in economics.

Before joining PSE, she has worked at the Development Centre of the OECD. She has been a consultant for the World Bank, the OECD, the European Commission, INSEE, Centre d'Analyse Stratégique. She has lectured at University Paris I, Rennes I and Institut International d’Administration Publique et l'université de Rennes 1.

Akiko Suwa-Eisenmann is a graduate from Ecole Normale Supérieure and Sciences Po. She holds a PhD from EHESS.
