Despite their diversity, francophone sub-Saharan African countries experience similar types of health challenges. Recent rigorous studies from various regions across the globe point towards some possible solutions to improve the health outcomes of the most vulnerable groups of society. This course aims to:

  • Provide an overview of the health challenges francophone sub-Saharan countries are currently facing;
  • Introduce participants to randomized evaluations—a method used to rigorously determine which health programs work best;
  • Present in detail the most promising solutions: How can we take price sensitivity into account? How can we inform and encourage people to modify their health behavior? How can we improve the behavior of health personnel? How can we enhance child and maternal health?
  • Lastly, show where to find and how to use scientific evidence
