Developing countries are often affected by armed conflicts, which has costs on people’s sources of financial income and mobility: over 40% of the world’s poor live in conflict-affected areas*.
Marion Richard studies their global impact on economic and temporary migration from countries such as Mali and the Sahel.

Marion Richard is a PhD student at the Paris School of Economics and at the School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences. She is also a research assistant at UCLouvain. Her fields of research are development economics and political economy. In particular, she studies conflict, climate change and colonial policies as determinants and obstacles to migration in developing countries.
