Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) and the Paris School of Economics joined forces during 2014 to create Hospinnomics, a Chair in Health Economics focused on innovation in hospitals. Hospinnomics - hospital, innovation, economics - mobilizes the skills of economists in the service of informed decision-making. It contributes to the development of evaluation and experimentation to optimize all available resources in the service of the patient.

Hospinnomics is a Chair attached to PSE and located at the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital.
The scientific director is Lise Rochaix and the Chair has a Scientific Council composed of seven economists, professors in foreign universities; it is chaired by Pierre Corvol, professor at the Collège de France.
The four main missions of Hospinnomics are:

  • research
  • decision support
  • training
  • dissemination to the public

The scientific project is structured around two thematic axes. On the one hand, an axis on evaluation methods of technological and organizational innovation. As an illustration, experimentation methods will be applied to the field of health, for example for the evaluation of the impact of prevention campaigns. On the other hand a focus on regulation (pricing methods, measurement of inequalities, incentives, etc.). For example, the Chair will measure the variations in costs to be paid by patients according to the different health care paths.
