Call for papers | 1st European Workshop on the Macroeconomic Implications of Migration
The International Migration Economics Chair, the International Macroeconomics Chair, the CEPII, the Bank of Spain and the Global Migration Center at the University of California, Davis would like to invite you to submit a paper to the first edition of the European Workshop on the Macroeconomic Implications of Migration.
The conference will take place at the Paris School of Economics and at the CEPII on June 13-14, 2024. Its goal is to promote discussion and dissemination of innovative theoretical and empirical research on the macroeconomic implications of migration.
The organizing committee invites research submissions on topics related (but not limited) to: the labor market impact of (im)migration; the effects of (im)migration on firms’ behavior, productivity, and innovation; the business-cycle behavior of migration and its relation to monetary and fiscal policies; (Internal) migration and its response to different economic shocks and policies; migration and demographic change; the effect of immigration on prices and the housing market; fiscal and public finance implications of (im)migration; the interplay between migration, foreign investment, and trade; post-pandemic migration (internal and international); migration caused by conflict or physical and transition risks related to climate change.
Keynote speakers: Frederic Docquier (Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research), Anna-Maria Mayda (Georgetown University), Giovanni Peri (University of California, Davis) and Fabian Waldinger (LMU Munich).
Submission guidelines and timetable: submissions of full papers or extended abstracts with main results are expected by March 1, 2024. Submissions should be uploaded to this folder. Please note only one paper per person can be submitted. Decisions are expected to be communicated by March 15, 2024. Authors with accepted papers are expected to make their own travel arrangements. While we don’t cover travel expenses, accommodation in Paris for up to two nights will be covered for presenters.

The International Migration Economics Chair aims to create a place open to society in order to disseminate, share and discuss the findings of scientific studies on a major societal issue. It will conduct rigorous work based on historical and contemporary data to better understand the motivations and implications of international migration for the global economy as well as for receiving and sending countries.
The International Macroeconomics Chair is the result of a partnership between the Banque de France and PSE. Sharing the same vision about scientific needs on international issues, these two organisations joint their efforts to build a chair with the objective of fostering the development of research on the financial & monetary international system, and in international Macroeconomics.
