The first volume of the Handbook of Income Distribution edited by A. B. Atkinson and F. Bourguignon was published in 2000. More than 10 years later, it seems opportune to bring out a second volume. The reason is that the subject has moved on and appears today as one of the most dynamic in the economic discipline. This conference will bring together the authors of the more than 20 chapters of this second volume and will cover all areas of income distribution where important advances have recently taken place and new knowledge is being accumulated.
