PhD students and postdoctoral fellows

The Urban new deal Chair supports the recruitment and funding of PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, who work on and share their expertise with the Chair’s various research projects.

Postdoctoral fellows

Hélène Bénistand
After a PhD at the university Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Hélène Bénistand joined PSE as a postdoctoral fellow in September 2022, in the framework of the Chair. Specialised in social justice, transport economics and the history of economic thought, she works mainly on the Chair’s “transportation and mobility in a fairer society” project, in collaboration with PTV Group.


PhD students

Nicolas Hatem
Nicolas Hatem is completing his thesis at PSE and the university Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne with funding from Engie. Within the Chair, he is working mainly on the “distributed energy sources” and “energy efficiency in building” projects.

  • Thesis title: “Contracts, governance and financing in large urban infrastructure systems”
  • Supervisor: Carine Staropoli

Clément Gras
Clément Gras is completing his thesis at PSE and EHESS. He contributes to the work of the NDU Chair by highlighting the incentives of mobility platforms to self-regulate or to direct consumers towards their products.

  • Thesis title: “Essays in contract theory and regulatory economics”
  • Supervisor: David Martimort

Samy Zitouni
Samy Zitouni is completing his thesis at PSE and the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne with funding from EDF. Within the Chair, he is working mainly on the “energy efficiency in building” project.

  • Thesis title: “The contribution of behavioural economics to the analysis of the effectiveness of environmental policies”
