This event is the culmination of a three-year research project based on an analysis of data and reforms from five countries in North America, Northern and Western Europe: Canada, France, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The research teams mobilised in each of these countries began by documenting changes in inequalities among the elderly, between rich and poor or between men and women, for example, across successive generations. The researchers then looked at the effects of the public policies implemented in recent years in the health and social care sector, in order to determine whether these policies, implemented in a context of severe budgetary pressure, have tended to reduce or accentuate these inequalities.
The results will be presented throughout the day, then discussed with a number of institutional leaders at a final round table.
