On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the Paris School of Economics was pleased to co-organize, alongside the High Council of Public Finance, a conference devoted to the lessons to be learned from the deterioration in public finances. The event was held at the Cour des Comptes and brought together experts, researchers and public officials for two round tables.

Jean-Olivier Hairault, Director of PSE, opened the conference by emphasizing the importance of dialogue between academic institutions and public bodies to shed light on current budgetary challenges. Pierre Moscovici, First President of the Cour des comptes and President of the High Council of Public Finance, then introduced the key issues addressed during the conference. The event closed with a speech by Amélie de Montchalin, Minister for Public Accounts, who presented the government’s vision and strategic orientations in budgetary matters.
