Prizes and distinctions : Antoine Ferey (alumni), awarded the 2025 Edmond Malinvaud Prize

The AFSE awarded the 2025 Edmond Malinvaud Prize to Antoine Ferey for his article on sufficient statistics for nonlinear tax systems.

The French Economic Association (AFSE) has announced the 2025 winner of the Edmond Malinvaud Prize. This annual award recognises the best scientific article in economics published in an EconLit journal by a young economist.

Antoine Ferey, graduate of the Master Analysis and Policy in Economics (2016) at PSE, received the prize for his dissertation entitled “Sufficient Statistics for Nonlinear Tax Systems with General Across-Income Heterogeneity” joint with Ben Lockwood and Dmitry Taubinsky, published in 2024 in the American Economic Review. Assistant professor in economics at Sciences Po, his research focuses on public economics that combines applied theory with empirical analysis and microsimulation tools to study and inform the design of tax-benefit systems.
