Research chair : Opening Economics Chair

The ambitious aim of the Opening Economics Chair is to open up economics to and through other disciplines.

The Opening Economics Chair was created by Hermès and the Paris School of Economics.

Objective

To open up economics to and through other disciplines, the Opening Economics Chair aims to enable economists to respond in an original and effective way to the major issues of our time, by taking into account a dual observation: today’s complex and multifaceted challenges require an approach that transcends disciplinary boundaries; research in economics needs to be further renewed by advances in related disciplines.

Research projects

To achieve its objective, the Chair relies on the scientific leaders of the four research projects to which it is currently contributing:

Activities

The Chair’s program includes a number of activities:

  • organizing events to present and discuss work at the frontier of international research;
  • inviting researchers from other internationally recognized disciplines to take part in teaching and/or research activities;
  • the regular publication of policy briefs that promote the Chair’s research work to a wider audience;
  • the recruitment of postdocs;
  • the development of high-level training courses;
  • the drafting of an annual activity report.
