Research chair : International Migration Economics Chair

Objectives

The primary objective of the International Migration Economics Chair is to create a forum open to society, in order to disseminate, share and discuss the findings of scientific studies on a major societal issue.

Specifically, it will aim to:

• analyze the determinants (economic, political, demographic, humanitarian, climatic) of international migration ;
• understand the economic potential of migration in terms of growth and integration into the global economy;
• understand the impact of globalization and the emergence of regional powers on migratory flows;
• analyze the place of immigration and diversity in society;
• evaluate public policies for the economic and social integration of immigrants, refugees and their descendants;
• promote international migration governance initiatives (common asylum policy in Europe, global approach to climate migration management).

Activities

The Chair’s program includes a number of activities:

• organizing events to present and discuss work at the frontiers of international research;
• inviting researchers to enrich research and initiate new collaborations;
• the regular publication of policy briefs, which promote the Chair’s research work to a wider audience;
• researchers associated with the Chair regularly disseminate their research to a wide audience, in order to fuel public debate and the development of public policy;
• researchers associated with the Chair conduct research that is published in peer-reviewed scientific journals of international academic standard;
• the development of high-level training courses;
• the funding of doctoral and postdoctoral students.
