Research chairs : Terms and conditions of a chair
Creating a research chair means defining a scientific project on themes offering academic opportunities for researchers and new perspectives for partners.
The project is co-constructed with the partner(s) on themes that are as close as possible to their challenges. It is set out in an annual program with ambitious, unifying objectives.
A joint team led by a scientific leader
The Chair is headed by an internationally-renowned researcher. It mobilizes a team of researchers, PhD and post-doctoral students fully committed to the project, who interact with the partner teams.
Diversified activities
Research seminars, international conferences and thematic workshops punctuate the life of the Chair. They are aimed at both academic and professional audiences.
The Chair’s annual conference, which brings together partner teams and researchers, has a more unifying aim and is more open to the general public. It reports on the latest research and may also include round-table discussions open to public debate.
To enrich research and initiate new collaborations, the Chair may involve guest researchers in one of its programs, for short or long periods. These researchers also contribute to events, teaching and, more generally, to the life of the Chair.
The Chair contributes to the international reputation of the PSE Summer School. It helps to enrich the training courses, thanks to recognized lecturers and high-level courses.
The Chair funds thesis and post-doctoral grants on subjects defined by the partners. These young researchers join the PSE community and benefit from high-quality support.
Policy briefs, aimed at a wider audience, regularly highlight the research work undertaken by the Chair.
The Chair is a privileged forum for discussion and exchange between partners. In addition to informal exchanges between partners and the chairholder, working meetings are organized between academic teams and professionals.
Dedicated communications
Communication for the Chair is handled by the PSE communications team, which works in coordination with the partners to promote the events organized by the Chair and the work carried out.
Throughout the program, activities are relayed and promoted on the Chair page and social networks. An annual activity report is produced.
A strong, long-term commitment, eligible for tax deductions
Partners must commit to the program for at least three years.
Funding for the Chair is eligible for the 60% tax deduction applicable to corporate sponsorship.
